Meet the volunteers, see how they sort and reuse donations, and find out how these materials go on to inspire creativity in schools, universities, artists and the local community.

How can organisations build the capabilities needed for the circular transition? Discover practical strategies using systems thinking, inclusive leadership and strategic innovation.

Working across the UK’s major television broadcasters gave Kate and Emma first-hand insight into the industry’s waste challenge and inspired them to find a better way to manage materials and resources.

In 2021, they founded PropUp to put that thinking into practice. Their model keeps props, sets and equipment in use for longer, while redirecting materials from production into schools, charities, and community organisations. It’s a practical example of how circular economy principles can deliver tangible ESG outcomes: reducing waste, extending resource lifecycles, and creating social value.

With one of PropUp’s hubs based in Fitzrovia, we’ll also look closer to home, exploring how local businesses can support circular initiatives through surplus clearances, office moves and refurbishment projects, while creating positive impact for local people and communities.

Expect an optimistic, practical discussion about collaboration, sustainability and lasting social value, with plenty of opportunity to meet your neighbours along the way.

How might the way forests, ecosystems and other living systems navigate complexity help us rethink the circular economy?

Ecological Design Thinking for a Circular Economy introduces a creative and practical approach to circular innovation, drawing on ecological principles to help organisations see familiar challenges from a different perspective. Living systems have evolved ways of building resilience, working through interdependence, adapting to change and making effective use of resources. This session explores what these patterns can teach us about business models, value chains and wider systems change.

Through short provocations, examples and guided reflection, participants will use ecological metaphors to challenge assumptions, strengthen their systems thinking and uncover ideas that may otherwise be overlooked. The session will also introduce Nature’s Playbook, a research-based tool developed to translate insights from ecology into practical prompts for circular economy innovation.

Everyone attending will receive a Nature’s Playbook demonstration booklet to use during the session. Participants who would like to continue working with the approach will also have the opportunity to purchase the full Nature’s Playbook card set.

Make Mee Studio are a sewing social enterprise based in Lewisham. They have some amazing pieces of fabric and other haberdashery that are taking up lots of room in their store room! So they want to offer them to a good home so you can make your making as sustainable as possible too.

Gorgeous quality curtains and homewares fabrics donated from a shop, cottons for patchworking and endless ribbons.

You will be saving these from going into waste streams. All profits will go towards being able to offer free & low cost spaces at Make Mee Studio’s classes and free community events.

All are welcome, great for crafters, teachers and makers.

Make Mee Studio may have an ulterior motive with this one. They want you to come and take all their fabric scraps off their hands! But, they think it’s a pretty sweet deal. You will:

– Learn awesome sewing skills, from patch to piping, zips and covered buttons.
– Leave with a gorgeous hand made and totally unique patchwork pouffe for your home.
– You’ll be doing something good for the planet. It is made from and stuffed with remnant fabrics. Win, win win!
