With a mix of panels, breakouts and workshop sessions, this highly interactive central London event will be the place to hear from business and community innovators on why circular economy is critical for growth, for communities, and for high streets to prosper.

Through case studies, panel discussion and live examples, we’ll demonstrate how design decisions create measurable impact — reducing waste, enabling reuse, and driving value for brands, designers and the built environment. With practical insights demonstrating how global real estate can drive systemic change by embedding reuse into projects and procurement.

In a perfect world, reuse would be synonymous with interior fit-out, and reuse would be the first choice for all product selection with spaces being designed to ensure products are reused over and over again. We are still a long way from this, but it is doable, and we are moving in the right direction with more and more examples of good practice and increased drivers.

This session for Circular Economy Week 2025 will explore what we need to do to scale this and make reuse the first choice in all fit-out projects. It will show how there are some quick wins that can be identified that with some pre-planning and collaboration can bring dividends for landlords, tenants and the supply chain. We will also be introducing our new service for circular fit-outs, working in collaboration with Lumybel and Blackstone Strip Out.

Circular economy strategies often look great on paper – yet too often, they fail to create real change in practice. Why? Because systems don’t change until people do. From refill schemes to reuse platforms, even the most innovative circular initiatives can fall short when they overlook how humans actually think and behave.

This session explores the human side of the circular transition – the psychological, cultural and behavioural barriers that stand between intention and impact.

Drawing on insights from behavioural science and sustainability strategy, we’ll unpack: Why people resist circular practices even when they make perfect sense; Why circular transitions often stall at the “last mile” of behaviour change; The behavioural traps that derail well-designed sustainability programmes; How to design interventions, products, and systems that people actually use and support; Real examples of behavioural interventions that have unlocked significant environmental impact

The session combines a short lecture with an open discussion, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences from their own work, and receive tailored feedback.

The aim of the workshop is to understand the opportunities offered by the circular economy, the issues involved in using resources and, above all, to discover the solutions that can be implemented individually, in companies, in our region and beyond!
