Paul Gaughan is a Fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), with over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. For the past 25 years, he has held senior board positions within the London Fit Out Sector. He also serves as Chair of the CIOB Cambridge Hub and contributes to the Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) through its Sustainability Leadership Group.

Paul believes that leaders in the construction industry share a responsibility to shape not only a better built environment but also a better industry — one where sustainable practices are standard. The era of “business and building as usual” is over. Through Lumybel, he is working to fundamentally change how we build, create, and curate spaces.

He advocates for a complete mindset shift across the construction sector. Companies must move away from traditional models toward a purpose-driven agenda, adopting sustainable, low-carbon solutions that align with both financial constraints and environmental goals. Paul is confident there is a better way — one that balances purpose, planet, and the people who live and work within the spaces we create.
