How Little Freddie went circular
Packaging is a critical part of any food business as it protects the safety and quality of products. Unfortunately a lot of packaging used in the food industry, though recyclable, is not readily recycled by local councils.
Premium organic baby food brand Little Freddie uses pouches made from flexible aluminium laminate, which keep its food safe and fresh without the use of any preservatives. However this type of packaging is one of the many materials not currently recycled in the home. With over 90% of its sales coming from pouches Little Freddie spotted an opportunity to design its own waste reduction recycling solution in partnership with aluminium laminate recycler, Enval.
Join us for an online discussion on how Little Freddie created the UK’s first zero waste to landfill circular system for its pouches in celebration of #CEWeek. Nicola Smith, Environmental & Sustainability Manager at Little Freddie will share an overview of the company’s award-winning pouch recycling return scheme, detailing how it works, what steps were taken to implement the scheme and why it has been so successful. Nicola will also touch on the future of the scheme and what changes should be happening across the industry.
